OpenAI Dots for business
Find a Dots responsibility for your business: 53 starter briefs with inputs, review steps and sample tests across 14 business types.
Give your dot a responsibility you can inspect
A customer reply, missing document or changed commitment can disappear between meetings. Give your dot one ongoing responsibility and a source to work from. Ask for a result that names the record, the open question and the person who decides what happens next.
OpenAI describes dots as agents that continue work between conversations and can use permitted apps and their own cloud computer. Your connected accounts, available tools and workspace controls determine the work your dot can actually do. The official overview explains current eligibility and setup.
This collection contains 53 original starter briefs across 14 business types. Each task guide includes the input fields, a copyable brief, a worked acceptance scenario and the action boundary. These are Flowgrammer’s proposed instructions, not OpenAI templates or tested integrations.

Set up the first result
Confirm that dots is available in your account. The current official overview lists eligible Pro tiers, Business Premium and Enterprise rollout, with regional and administrator conditions. Availability is gradual. Check your account before buying a plan for a specific workflow; this directory does not quote a subscription price.
You can create your dot in the current mobile app, desktop app or a desktop browser. Mobile web is unsupported. A messaging channel, an app connection and local computer access are separate connections. Cloud work can continue with your computer off; work using a connected local computer needs that computer online with ChatGPT open. See computers and apps.
Start by sharing a synthetic or approved sample and requesting one draft. Check whether the dot can find the source, preserve its identifiers and produce the promised output. Only then connect the next source or set recurring work.
Keep actions and schedules explicit
Drafting a message does not authorize sending it. Tell your dot which actions you want to review, and check app permissions separately. Custom rules provide additional instructions but do not grant access or guarantee enforcement. OpenAI’s controls guide distinguishes those settings.
For recurring work, specify the task, time zone, end date, notification condition and destination, then ask it to confirm what was saved. Connecting an inbox or channel alone does not start monitoring. Pause stops the main task; stop delegated work in Activity and cancel recurring work in Scheduled separately.
Choose the right implementation
Use a Dots brief when someone needs continuing preparation across correspondence, documents and decisions. Use the n8n directory when you need a specified application-to-application flow with mapped fields and explicit error handling. See Grok Bot teams for another preparation approach. This is a task-fit comparison, not a claim about which platform is cheaper or more accurate.
For general rules, setup instructions and FAQs, use the existing Dots starter resource. For this directory’s full set, download the business brief bundle. Downloads are ungated Markdown instructions.
Plan the first workflow with Flowgrammer
Bring one recurring queue, a redacted record and the person who approves its output to a workflow fit call. We will check the source access and review process before recommending a build. Our AI automation systems service covers implementation after the scope is clear.

Frequently asked questions
Have these briefs been tested on a live dot?
No. They are original Flowgrammer starter instructions adapted from the supplied research. Test the first result with synthetic or approved sample records before connecting live work.
Will a brief connect my business software?
No. Plugin connections, account permissions and available tools are separate from the written brief. Use a permitted export when the required tool is unavailable.
Can Flowgrammer help set this up?
Bring one recurring task, its source systems and a redacted example to a fit call. We will check the access, review process and first acceptance test before proposing implementation.
