Document automation for accounting and finance
Define the source fields, extraction and approval steps for accounting and finance. Download the business kit and test one document family.
Start with the documents your team already handles
For accounting and finance, begin with missing tax document checklist, invoice approval flow, gst/hst invoice field check. Choose the guide below that matches the current bottleneck: defining fields, reading a document or getting a reviewed result into the destination. The accountant owns the approval and exception process.
Choose a template
- Missing tax document checklist
- Invoice approval flow
- GST/HST invoice field check
- Invoice and receipt extraction prompt
What the business kit includes
The downloadable kit contains 4 edited templates and setup notes. Each task names its source fields, expected draft, review owner and a failure case. Field maps are CSV where useful; prompts and workflow instructions are Markdown. They are designs to adapt and test, not import-ready connectors.
Keep source, extraction and approval together
Assign the incoming file a stable ID. Preserve the original, then attach page references to extracted values. A document-type checklist decides what is required; use null for information the source does not establish. Keep the extracted candidate separate from an approved record.
For a write, show the reviewer the exact version and destination. Record the decision and verify the resulting record ID. A timeout needs reconciliation before retry, and a new file version needs renewed review. Draft any missing-information request before the authorized person sends it.
Choose processing and storage deliberately
Document the approved data route, archive region, retention trigger and people who can access the originals. Review the Canadian archive checklist with the organization’s advisor. A product brand, self-hosted component or location of the user does not establish the entire data path.
Use the GST/HST field check for applicable invoice documentation. Other document types and professional records need their own approved checklist. The templates do not decide legal validity, clinical matters or credit outcomes.
Define a pilot your reviewer can assess
Select one document family and a permitted set of examples. Include an ordinary document, a missing field, a duplicate, a changed version and a failed write. Compare candidate values with source pages and record the reviewer’s corrections. Stop before real posting, payment, signature or filing until access and acceptance are agreed.
The requirements and test pack can hold the pilot scope. Browse n8n for accounting and finance for flow patterns and OpenClaw for accounting and finance for another preparation approach.

Frequently asked questions
Are these tested document automation workflows?
These are reviewed designs, prompts and field maps. They have not been tested on real documents or connected to your business accounts. Start with synthetic examples and then an approved test set.
Can the workflow post, pay or send automatically?
The designs separate extraction from approval. A destination write needs an authorized adapter and approval of the current document version. Payments, signatures and filings remain separate actions.
How should we choose a tool?
Check the document layouts, required fields, review workload, data locations, export and deletion controls, destination permissions and total operating cost. A headline subscription price does not establish fit.
What should I bring to a Flowgrammer call?
Bring the recurring document type, a redacted example, the destination system and the person who approves it. We will define the first acceptance test and scope the required connections.
